The Curriculum
Language, Thinking Skills and Concepts
Emphasis is placed on enhancing children's literacy; learning through play, alphabet and phonemic awareness activities.Pre-Math and Reading Readiness
These skills are building blocks to more concrete skills learned later, when the child is developmentally ready for success in reading. Activities include: following directions, listening comprehension sequencing, expanding spoken language, and categorizing. In math, activities may include sequencing, categorizing, patterning, and matching. Other experiences involve shapes, numbers, counting, and one-to-on correspondence.Perception
Skills related to the senses; enabling a child to identify and compare using all senses.Motor Skills
Small motor skills with the hands, and activities will prepare the child for the writing skills later in school years. Gross motor skills help build large muscles so the child can walk, run, skip and jump.Self-help Skills
These skills will help children take care of themselves independently. A sense of pride develops which will help them to learn new skills with better ease.Social Skills
Social skills include interaction with others and objects around the child. Learning to interact in a positive way with others is one of the primary objectives of our classroom.Music and Dramatic Play
Our curriculum provides opportunities for the child to act out rhymes, stories, songs, and books and to participate cooperatively with other children in dramatic play.Art
Art activities for young children are process, rather than product oriented with many opportunities being given to use many different art materials and mediums.
