Sunday Coffee Hour
Parent's Club hosts the Sunday Coffee Hours on the second Sunday of each month during the school year. They are responsible for both the 8:30am and 10:30am masses. Each grade will be scheduled for setting up the Fitz Room with the refreshments for this event.
You will need two to three adults for each masses coffee hour. Helpers for the 8:30am mass should start preparing coffee at 8:30 and setting up. Helpers for the 10:30am mass should arrive by 10:30 to set up and start preparing fresh coffee.
The designated room parent orders 17 dozen doughnuts from the Albertson's store located at 130th and Aurora. The phone number is 306-8780; ask for Kathy, the bakery manager. Kathy has arranged for us to receive a special price of $3.99 per dozen ($1.00 off per dozen). Order doughnuts on Friday (between the hours of 5am and 1pm) the week of the Sunday coffee hour, for pick up on Sunday morning. Identify yourself as a member of Christ the King School.
We also have a special order price agreement with Krispie Kreme. We can order doughnuts from them for $3.25/dozen. Identify yourself as a Christ the King parent and order the 17 dozen at the fund raiser price, for pick up on Sunday at 8am. The order can be put in on the Friday before the coffee hour. If there are any problems ask for Chip, he is the current manager and knows about our school and the arrangement.
While some groups order their doughnuts from various sources, Parents' Club has made specific arrangements with the Albertson's bakery and with Krispie Kreme and we would appreciate your cooperation in ordering only from them for the Sunday coffee hours.
To Do:
- Tables and chairs should be set up Saturday afternoon or during the 8:30am mass on Sunday.
- The designated room parent needs to contact the Hospitality Coordinator to arrange for pick up of the key to the coffee supply cabinet by Friday, the week of the Sunday coffee hour, as well as pick up the key to the Fitzgerald's Room form the parish office by Thursday, the week of the Sunday coffee hour.
- Pick up doughnuts by 8:30am on Sunday. While picking up doughnuts, you will need to buy either 8 cans of frozen concentrate or 3 gallons of ready-made juice and one quart of half and half.
- The Fitzgerald's Room should be unlocked at 8:30am and ready for set-up and preparation.
- Start coffee by 8:30am and make as many pots as possible before the 8:30am mass is over. Be sure to brew both decaf and regular coffee and fill as many white thermoses as you can.
- Prepare doughnut trays and juice.
- Put creamer in glass pours and set serving tables.
- Set out donation box at the start of the serving tables.
- Make sure the kitchen and Fitz Room are clean and ready for the next crew. Someone needs to stay on premise until the keys can be given to the crew coming in to cover the 10:30am mass.
- For the 10:30am mass all coffee and juice should be made after clean up of the 8:30am mass, as well as stocking of all supplies and doughnut trays.
- Wipe all tables and counters clean, empty any full trash cans. Leave the Fitzgerald's Room in an orderly fashion. The tables remain out because the Spanish community has a coffee hour every Sunday after their services at 12:30pm.
- Count money in donation box and reimburse the person who purchased the food and juice. Return the empty donation box to the coffee supply cabinet.
- Place any left over money, receipts and coffee supply cabinet key in an envelope marked "Parent's Club Treasurer" and drop it in the school drop box right after the coffee hours or the following day if the school office is locked.
- Return the Fitz Room key to the parish office.
