Junior High Youth Group
I ask you young people, who naturally and instinctively make your 'love of life' the horizon of your dreams and the rainbow of your hopes, to become 'prophets of life'.
Be such by your words and deeds, rebelling against the civilization of selfishness that often considers the human person a means rather than the end, sacrificing its dignity and feelings in the name of mere profit.
Do so by concretely helping those who need you and who perhaps, without your help, would be tempted to resign themselves to despair.
Pope John Paul II, World Youth Day 1996
Christ the King Youth Ministry provides junior and senior high youth with the opportunity to gather together to share their faith in community. Youth participate in Catholic Social Teaching through service activities within the parish and local community. By sharing in faith, fellowship, service, and solidarity youth are engaged in their spirituality and begin to articulate their own faith experience.
- Faith - Youth group introduces students to different forms of prayer and meditation while also engaging students in discussion about their Catholic faith.
-
Fellowship - Once a month we have a fun night out.
(Examples include- Gameworks, Ski Day, and Flag Football.) -
Service - Once a month we participate in a local service project
such as planting trees with the Cedar River Watershed, serving food at the Compass
Center downtown, or preparing food at local food bank.
(Look for more information on our summer immersion trip soon) - Solidarity - We talk often about events happening around the world and what we can do to affect change. Immigration, peace-issues, hunger, and homelessness are some examples.
The Junior High Youth Group meets every other Wednesday night from 7-8:30 PM. All students in the 6th -8th grades are welcome and encouraged to bring friends. Follow this link to view our current schedule: http://www.ckseattle.org/school/calendar.htm and click on Junior High Youth Group
